6 Ways You’re Making It Harder To Reach Your Goals

This month we are all about making your healthy lifestyle EASIER …

And one big way to do that is to get rid of the things that are blocking you from your goals.

We’ve got a quick list of 6 things you can stop doing now … so you can start getting results NOW!

Ready? Let’s go!

6 Ways You’re Making it Harder to Reach Your Goals

1. Aiming too high, too soon. This is a recipe for failure and frustration.

Goals like dropping weight fast… or running a marathon within a couple of months can be daunting and discouraging. Having such a big goal, even one that you may reach far in the future, can diminish your motivation every time you are unable to reach it. Instead, set smaller, realistic targets to fuel your long-term progress. Any accomplishment no matter how small releases the same boost of confidence and self-esteem to then tackle the next task. This consistency over time is what will eventually lead you to achieving that larger goal. If you struggle with having such large goals that you feel like you can’t achieve, a coach can help.

2. Comparing yourself to others.

It's okay to draw inspiration from others but don't let their progress define your worth. Plus, you never know behind-the-scenes of what it REALLY took them to get there. Everyone is different, therefore will take different paths to their goals. Working towards your own goals takes enough of your energy so don’t waste it worrying about someone else’s road to their goals. Social media has created a way to fast track everyone else’s life accompaniments directly to you 24/7. If you have a habit of comparing your life to another, taking a break from social media might be a path you want to take. Simply deleting the app off your phone will make it hard for you to mindlessly scroll through your feed and feeling down every time you see someone else accomplishing their goals. Remember your journey is unique and yours, so own it and celebrate your own progress.

3. Over-restricting your diet.

Eliminating foods (and food groups), skipping meals, or obsessing over the scale is not only discouraging… but it can lead to cravings, fatigue, and a serious lack of motivation. Learn your weaknesses and slowly tackle one at a time. Write down smaller goals like drinking 100 oz. of water a day, limiting yourself to 1 cup of coffee a day, or adding in one helping of vegetables every meal. Each week try to tackle one new small goal you have. Those small changes that have been so easy for you not to do, are just as easy to start doing. Aim for a balanced, enjoyable lifestyle that supports your health and well-being.

4. Navigating without a plan.

Having a proven game plan to take you from where you are NOW to where you want to be will save you time and effort. Otherwise, you’re relying on guesswork to reach your goal. Creating a road map to get to your goals can give you a clear direction with purpose, setting realistic objectives and a timeframe for achieving them. This beginning step in working towards achieving your goals will develop a sense of initiative to keep moving forward. It’s hard to drive to somewhere you have never been if you don’t have a map.

5. Short-term vision.

Being fit for a vacation or an event is great… but staying in shape is even better.  Consider your long-term health and avoid the exhausting cycle of temporary fitness. Consistency is key here. If you create better daily habits that you enjoy and can stick to you can change your life not just your year.

6. Isolating yourself.

Everyone needs support. A strong support network or a great coach can hold you accountable and help you reach your goals even faster. Having someone in your corner cheering you on – and helping you find the inner strength to step out of your comfort zone – is invaluable! If this is an area you need help with, make sure you check out our 4 WEEK KICKSTART program.
