Recipe of the Month: Dark Chocolate Dipped Strawberries with Crushed Walnuts
Since February is American Heart Month, it’s the perfect time to lean into ingredients that support cardiovascular health while still feeling like a Valentine’s Day indulgence!
Why we love this for Heart Month: This recipe swaps traditional milk chocolate for antioxidant-rich dark chocolate and adds walnuts, which are packed with heart-healthy omega-3s. It’s a delicious way to satisfy a sweet tooth while supporting your cardiovascular goals!
INGREDIENTS
- 12 large ripe strawberries
- ½ cup dark chocolate baking chips or high-quality chocolate bar (70% cocoa), broken into small pieces
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- ½ cup finely crushed walnuts
DIRECTIONS
- Place the chocolate and coconut oil in the glass bowl over a pan of boiling water (a double boiler) on medium heat. Stir occasionally until chocolate is completely melted and coconut oil is incorporated.
- Lay a sheet of parchment paper on a sheet pan. Dip strawberries one at a time in the melted chocolate, then quickly sprinkle crushed walnuts & place on the parchment paper.
- Once you have dipped all of your strawberries, place the sheet pan in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens.
- Enjoy! If you have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They won’t last long if your strawberries are fresh so plan to enjoy them within a day of dipping.
**Key tips for success include using room-temperature, dry berries to ensure the chocolate adheres.
