Robby Barham
Personal Trainer
BIO:
Hi! I’m Robby, a personal trainer here at Recoup Personal Training and a Southern California native.
Staying active has been a huge part of my entire life. It started with sports as a kid, eventually led me to study Kinesiology and play baseball at Cal Poly SLO, and continued into a professional baseball career. Now, I’m fortunate to turn that lifelong passion for movement into a career helping others.
My interest in Kinesiology really began after an elbow injury sidelined my college baseball career for a year. I wanted to understand why I got injured, how the body recovers, and what I could do to help others avoid going through the same process. Baseball eventually gave me the opportunity to travel across the U.S. and around the world, pursuing my dream of playing professionally while also becoming the teammate who enjoyed sharing a thing or two in the weight room.
My own fitness journey has been a long and winding road, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The gym has been a constant throughout my athletic career, and I’m grateful that it can now be the focus of my next one. To me, training isn’t only about what it does for you physically. The gym can teach you a lot about resilience, discipline, work ethic, and what you’re capable of when you keep showing up.
My experiences outside of the gym have shaped my coaching philosophy, too. I believe going through hardships can help shape who you’re becoming rather than define who you already are. The gym is a great example of that. Change takes work, patience, and consistency, and I’m excited to be part of that journey for everyone who steps through our doors.
Outside of the gym, I’m enjoying finding new hobbies and spending as much time outside as I can. You’ll usually find me with friends and family, trying something new, and seeing what life has in store for me next!
